Ilana's goal during the future solution was to raise awareness for the emotional well-being of pupils in order to provide guidance if necessary and focus on healthy coping.
How did you reach your goal?
“I focused on bringing more awareness to the emotional well-being of students between the ages 10-12. At this age pupils are not only entering puberty, but will soon also be transferring to a school for higher education. Facing big decisions with hormones roaming around their bodies, a great impact can be made when time is spent on the emotions that these students are experiencing. This way, the students become aware of what they are feeling, which is the first step to healthy coping. By also making the teacher aware, he or she can also provide necessary guidance if possible or point students in a direction to find help.”
So, what did you create?
“It’s a tool to be used by teachers to raise bring more awareness to the emotional well-being of students between the ages 10-12. A question is formulated and discussed within the classroom. The question should be written down and placed in the cabinet where students will later walk up to and answer this question by vothing the emotion that they feel the most connected with. They will be voting with small containters in which they can put a message if they wish to. There is also an SOS box for those who want help. The teacher can approach those students privately”
